I haven't used it as much as I thought I would though. I found the physics in iRacing to be good and personally feel that it is excellent compared to other sims when it comes to braking and locking up your wheels. Which sim is best is very subjective and some people get aggressively protective over their favourite title, but I personally think that they are all good in different ways. I managed to get a cheap deal for starting on iRacing for only about £20 for the first year. You should always run a CPU that can max out your GPU otherwise one or the other will limit your frame rates. I recommend a good CPU, didnt think so until I got an i9. Generally the game runs very well on most machines due to the flexibility (complexity) of graphics options. You can even turn up graphic settings at a loss of distance rendering which is a good compromise in my opinion. I use a seat mover with traction loss and transducers. It translates superbly into motion and vibration of road texture. Tracks are fantastic, lots of details etc. You can join some leagues where the racing is even more focused and race craft is stellar. Later you'll have plenty of clean racing with stiff competition.

Patience, staying back, studying the driver in front and finding your passing opportunities is what wins races in the rookie series.

It can be frustrating in the beginning to get out of the rookie series as most are getting used to sim racing, they don't employ proper race craft when it comes to passing and everyone wants to win on the first few laps. The system used to establish races, places you into them with people of "similar" race ability. The people who race there are for the most part very focused on driving to ensure a clean and challenging race. My statements are just my opinion and I encourage you to check out some youtube videos.
